The introduction of regulated futures markets for Bitcoin was a widely anticipated and overhyped event. Difficult to argue there was no impact on the price from the introduction of a derivative instrument designed to provide traders with the ability to short and bet against the price of Bitcoin. As markets mature, the ability to hedge using futures will likely see the overall market continue to grow.
